Starting August 31st, and ending October 3rd, 2024, you have the opportunity to join the Faculty Association's Sick Leave Bank. You may not join the bank outside of this enrollment window. Attached are the current SLB policy and the enrollment card for new members. Read the entire SLB policy carefully. Joining the Sick Leave Bank allows you to use the bank's sick days when you have exhausted your own supply of days. Below is an excerpt from the policy, which explains the initial commitment of one sick day.
To be a member of the SLB, a teacher must initially donate one (1) sick leave day by October 15th. Membership in the SLB shall be voluntary and shall continue until the SLB committee is notified in writing that the teacher has withdrawn from the bank. If a teacher decides to terminate his/her participation in the bank, he/she must do so prior to October 16th of the school year in which he/she terminates. Any days previously donated by the said teacher shall remain in the bank. Note that the one-day donation occurs ONE time only. You do not donate a day each year.
New teachers: Because you cannot receive days from the SLB until you have been employed by District 205 for one year, you may not join the bank until you have been an employee for one year.
Return the attached enrollment form to me, Ken Wendorff, at Thornwood High School no later than October 3rd. You may also email it to Ken and include an electronic signature. Remember that if you already enrolled prior to this year, you DO NOT need to enroll again. We have elected not to include the current list of SLB members due to privacy concerns. If you need to confirm your membership in the SLB, please contact Ken directly. Please contact Ken if you have any questions.
The SLB benefit is only available for certified Faculty Association members.
